Project Street Sign
I promised to post a student proposal argument, but after reviewing my files, this is the only example I can come up with. This group started with the purpose of arguing that the city needed to do something about the problem of missing, ill-placed, or obscured street signs, but if you read the "Solutions" section you'll notice that they stopped short of arguing for a mass effort to correct the problem due to the high costs involved and the fact that Austinites have just learned to deal with it. Ultimately, their approach was similar to something you'd expect to see produced by a consulting firm commissioned by the city to investigate and objectively report on a public works issue. Overall, they did a pretty good job. In addition to having a very professional layout, the site provides an excellent collection of information and resources. The students all received A's for their work.
Unfortunately, alll my other student proposal papers (last year all my students created websites), which were from 2-3 years ago, have either been handed back to students or thrown out. I'm going to see if one of my fellow instructors has a sample student proposal, but in the meantime, have a look at this one:
