Directions for Peer Review
1. Get into groups of three.
2. Exchange papers with a member of your group.
3. Identify the following in your partner's paper. Do this on a the back of their paper or on a seperate sheet of paper:
1. Reasons supporting a claim about the existence of a problem or need.
2. The Warrant for each enthymeme:
example:
claim: the city of Houston should fix the potholes in the downtown area
reason: because it represents a public hazzard
warrant: things that represent a public hazzard are bad and should be corrected
3. Reasons in support of the proposed solution.
4. ON a sheet of paper, answer the following questions: Are the reasons presented sufficient?
Based on your reading, are they warranted? Can you think of other reasons to support the writer's claims? Are their alternative proposals or counter arguments the writer should address or consider? This is key. Please explain.
5. Exchange papers again and repeat steps 3-4. You should spend at least 20 minutes answering the above questions for each partner. After you've read both partners' papers, spend some time explaining your responses.
